    Industrial ring,modern ring,tension set ring, amethyst ring, silver ring, nuts and bolts ring

    We take two ring blanks and assemble them with tiny nuts and bolts and tubing for spacers. Then we cut a channel for the gemstone with a stone setting burr on a flex-shaft drill. The gemstone is seated straight and aligned in the channel then we tighten the screws. This looks difficult but is very easy, effective, fast and fun!

    Advanced Viking Knit

    Advanced Weave With Makume Gane Slide Pendant..Not Included

    Continue to expand on your traditional jewelry making skills by hand crafting your own Viking Knit necklace. Students will continue to explore expansion and contraction of stitches, incorporate beads and charms and experiment with a variety of clasps and closures. Students must have completed Beginning Viking Knitting.This class can have flexibility and it's a great class for experimentation. I encourage you to bring your own beads or different wire to work with. If you have you own vise please bring it. I'll be providing 24 ga copper wires for the class.
    My goals as the instructor are:

    Learn the double weave
    Play with manipulation the distance and tension between the "rows" and the "ribs"
    Learn to add stitches starting from a 3 three petal cast off, to 5 and then 7 rows.
    Working with measuring and transitioning to larger dowels.
    Using the wood draw-plate, fingers, and tools.
    Being creative in sculpting a cone shape or even a completed "graduated thickness" bracelet.

    Learn to wield the jeweler's saw like a wizard's wand! Discover the historical fusion of art and trade among Scandinavia and Irish peoples as you hand craft your own pierced Celtic knot. Students in this course will use sawing, piercing,and polishing techniques to create a Celtic inspired knot necklace. The mere exercise of completing a one-day project of this scope speaks to the tradition of the transient lifestyle of the ancient silver smith traveling from town to town with tools in hand.     Students will fabricate and create their own version of this treasure worthy of an Egyptian goddess. Originally this design was discovered in an ancient tomb in Egypt. The techniques involved will include:annealing, forging, fabrication and bezel stone setting from a variety gemstones.

    Runic Message Ring:

    The ancients believed that the runic alphabet possessed special magical properties. Runes were used to ward off evil or to bring good fortune. Students will fabricate their own runic band with a special message to express their deepest desires or a special encoded message for someone special. The techniques used in this class will include: measuring and cutting a flat strip to the desired ring size, stamping the runes, annealing, bending and soldering the ends. All tools and materials in base metal (copper, brass,) will be provided for the project.

    Gemstone Slide Pendent

    Students must have completed both Celtic Pierced Pendant and Runic Message Ring before taking this class.-Learn to easily make a terrific tubular gemstone slides pendant. Starting from a raw piece of tubing you will learn to measure and flawlessly cut tube components with a jewelers saw. The techniques taught are: annealing, soldering, stone setting and polishing. All the components fit perfectly with the Beginning Viking Knit Bracelet Class we offer. We will also provide a 4mm diameter black or gray silk cord for those who have not taken the Viking Knit chain making class. The sliding components can be placed on almost any commercially available chain. The class includes one 4 to 5mm round gemstone and setting. Additional gemstones with their tube settings may be purchased on the day of class.
